Bing backs Dillon; former governor endorses Snyder

Milliken, a moderate Republican who pioneered environmental causes while serving as governor from 1969-83, noted the Ann Arbor venture capitalist's endorsement by the Michigan League of Conservation Voters, as well as Snyder's experience at creating jobs in the private sector.

In the Republican contest for attorney general, former Court of Appeals Judge Bill Schuette announced an endorsement from former U.S. House Speaker Newt Gingrich. Schuette and Gingrich served together in Congress. Schuette faces Senate Majority Leader Mike Bishop of Rochester for the attorney general nod at the Republican State Convention in late August.
